Since losing my brother to suicide in the summer of 2017, I have become very dedicated to raising awareness about mental health concerns. Currently, I volunteer as an on-call suicide survivor outreach volunteer with the Denton County Local Outreach for Suicide Survivors (LOSS) Team, which provides immediate and delayed support and resources to victims of suicide loss. I have also served as President of the UNT Chapter of Active Minds as well as the Vice President of the UNT Chapter of To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA), which are both national non-profit organizations focused on providing mental health resources to university students. While attending classes at UNT, I volunteered several hours a week as a Crisis Counselor for the national Crisis Text Line. Currently, I work in a supervisory role as a psychiatric nursing assistant for an-inpatient psychiatric hospital.

Mental Health Outreach

Additionally, I was the president of the UNT Chapter of the American Association of University Women (AAUW). This organization provides volunteer, career, and extra-curricular opportunities to women in higher education. This area has become a particular interest for me, as STEM fields tend to be primarily male-dominated.

Today, I serve as the Fundraising/Event Coordinator for the San Antonio College chapter of the Texas Student Nurses Association.

I am also very proud to have been a consistent Team Captain and Team Mentor to the UNT Logistics Case Competition Team. This group of students comes together multiple times a year to dedicate hundreds of hours to solving cases revolving around real-world logistical issues and presenting them to a panel of relevant professionals.

To date, I have participated multiple times in the Intermodal Association of North America's  case competitions in Houston, Long Beach, and Jacksonville as well as the Denver Intermodal Association's competition in Colorado. Most recently, I served as Team Mentor for UNT's team competing in California and as Team Captain for the Weber State Competition in Utah.

Logistics Competition Experience

Since 2020, I have been a consistent foster home for displaced shelter animals and like to spend my free time playing with my two rescued dogs.
